When a customer asked “Why do you do that?” And the only answer I have is “because we always have”. Something is wrong….. Well I stopped at local parts store that carries them today and we went over several hubs that use the shorter Tire Saver TS50…. We have always cut off one of the “ear” bolt connections on each side, but realized we really don’t have to. The only reason this is done is that this product only attaches with 2 of the opposing holes. But leaving it on actually makes it flexible to fit several other hubs. The issue is customers not realizing that if we leave them on only one bolt per side is used. We only include 4 bolts. I am considering a sticker on the outside of the box with this explanation and a detailed description on the web site. The option is to keep cutting them off and then there is no confusion, or hoping people figure it out…..
